Building a Camera

Always in search of some interesting ways to pass the time, I found this camera construction kit online for a decent price. Although analogue processes are not my usual forte, I figured this could be a creative and proactive use of my time. This 35mm camera was quite difficult to construct certain aspects. The most time-consuming was the fine tuning of the shutter to make sure that it opened completely. After much loosening and tightening of different screws and springs (for around an hour) the shutter finally opened and shut successfully.

This camera will be used for personal purposes for capturing memories but when the first reel is finished it will be exciting to process the film and see how successful the imagery is from this camera.

From this experience it taught me a lot of patience and trust in the creative process that I will continue to emulate in future projects be that in the studio or even in post production of editing imagery.
