Moving Self Portraiture
Advancing my skills in self portraiture, I came into the studio with a goal of trying out some moving image work. Using a Canon C100 Video Camera, for great image quality and resolution, I took myself into a continuous lighting studio to record myself pilling expressive faces and trying my hardest to hold those expressions.
These videos depict every strain, every twitch, every movement in my face as I tried to hold these accentuated facial expressions. From snarling, to yawning, to the downright unsettling, these videos will be edited to be presented on a screen based format with stills or portraits of these and other expressions in an exhibition format.
Debating whether to desaturate the image into black and white or leave it in colour, when editing I will decide whether to compile the different expressions or to just focus on one that would be on a constant loop on display in this exhibition space.
From this experience, I will definitely experiment and advance my skills in the moving image.
