Powerhouse Studio Talkthrough - by Rich White

Powerhouse Studios is one of the biggest and most successful image production studios in the North of England. With clients such as Aldi, Kellogg’s, Sainsbury’s, HARIBO, and Birds Eye, just to name a few, they have created bespoke imagery that has been implemented into advertisements, campaigns, shop floors, and all manner of settings. All of this photographic and video media is displayed nationally for most and internationally for other brands that Powerhouse have worked with.

Founded in 1999, by Rich White, the company has been operating for well over 20 years and shows no sign of slowing down. When hearing this first account from Rich, himself, he recalls the graft and the grind it took to get to the point where he could have the drive and knowhow to be able to create this business and for it to work. From shoot to shoot, client to client, Powerhouse Studio has been able to deliver amazing results under Rich’s leadership as well as all of the teams that come into play for all work to be executed.

The studio emphasises the need for more than just the photographer for a great shot but also the production team, art directors, food stylists, cooks, assistants, admin, finances, PR, and so many other cogs in the business machine to help things run smoothly.

Rich left the talk about Powerhouse Studio with some pearls of wisdom for those of us listening to help us on our photographic journey. Some of which were:

  • Keep all connections and never burn any bridges because they might be valuable later on.

  • Never stop learning, every day is an opportunity to learn.

  • BE A PEOPLE PERSON - just be nice.

  • Keep an open mind - take opportunities and make them work to your advantage.

  • Take time and be considerate when making progress in your career.

  • It’s hard to get your foot in the door so use ANY connections that you can and exploit them.
