Product Photography Technique Practice #1
In collaboration with my fellow photographer friend, Caitlin Collins, we decided to venture more into the genre of product photography as we both did not have much experience with this subject matter and we were both eager to expand our portfolios.
Having dabbled in product photography before, I expected it to be easier than it ended up panning out. A keyword for this experience would come down, ultimately, to stressful! This was mainly because, although we both knew we were more than capable to find a great image amongst the material we had brought into the studio, there was something we were not satisfied with.
After much deliberation we tampered with camera setting, we changed background colours and eventually wound up with an image worthy of the effort we had gone to. This is by no means the full extent of our product photography capabilities, but is in fact a great starting point that we intend to embellish and improve upon.
For this first attempt we opted for an Easter themes shoot featuring Cadbury’s Mini Eggs; very seasonal! After the initial edit I even had a go at an advert mock-up using Cadbury’s previously used easter slogan: “IT’S HUNTING SEASON”.
BONUS! We had plenty to snack on after the shoot was done.
