Portraiture Lighting Workshop - Lead by Sam Brown
Lead by Sam Brown (IG: @sambrownphotographer) from ReWork Studio, this workshop showed great insight into more effective lighting techniques for portrait photography within the studio. From this exercising of skills in the studio it helped to inform my own practice and how I can modify my own lighting techniques for different desirable results.
After having a personal conversation with Sam during the workshop we were able to compare our works and come to mutual understanding of how we each operate as we both have that drive to take images of, and work with, people. Not to dismiss the other work we have both done, but working with models and people just, in our shared opinion, can creat some very engaging and dynamic imagery. Lighting plays into these thought processes profoundly.
Lighting a subject in one way can make them seem cheery and approachable but if you were to move that light it could have the potential to change the mood of the photograph entirely. Using light as a tool and an art form of itself is a great skill to enhance and, from this workshop with Sam, I have further embraced my love of portraiture and lighting.
